Specialist Cardiologist

Dr. Marisa P. Joson is a Specialist-Cardiologist with about 20 years of professional experience.  She took her pre-medicine course of B.S. Biology at the world-renowned University of the Philippines and obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines in 1985.
 
Dr. Marisa completed her fellowship in adult cardiology at the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) in 1996 then further trained as a clinical research fellow in cardiac rehabilitation at the PHC in 1997 and at Toronto Rehabilitation Centre in Canada in 1998.  She also had a well-rounded clinical and research experiences in the US.  In 2014, she was a visiting research fellow in echocardiography at the University of Alabama in Birmingham under the supervision of Dr. Navin Nanda, a well-respected pioneer in the field.  She co-authored several papers that were peer reviewed and published in Echocardiography journal.
 
Dr. Marisa was the Head of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention of the Philippine Heart Center from 2000 to 2007.  She also established and headed the Intensive Care Unit of Pasig City General Hospital from 1999 to 2006.  She designed the cardiac rehabilitation fellowship training program of The Medical City Hospital in 2012.  She was the Attending Cardiologist of both the PHC and The Medical City until October 2015, when she moved to Dubai to join The Medical City Dubai satellite clinic.
 
Dr. Marisa is a diplomate and fellow of the Philippine Specialty Board of Internal Medicine, the Philippine College of Physicians, the Philippine College of Cardiology, and the Philippine Heart Association.  She was certified by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates of the United States of America in 2011
