Dr. Mohamed Rafique is presently The Medical Director since 2016 and Head of the Department of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine of PRIME Hospital. Since taking his post as Medical Director in 2016, Dr. Rafique has been supervising all medical staff, including doctors, and clinical departments to ensure the application of the highest standards of efficiency and professionalism. As the concurrent Chair of the Credentials and Privileging Committee, the former Assistant Medical Director from 2014-2016, has also been actively involved in approving the competencies and skills of physicians working for Prime Hospital. Another major responsibility of Dr. Rafique, who is also the Chair of the Infection Control Department, is to closely monitor various aspects of infection risks with the help of the Hospital Infection Control PCI (Prevention of Control of Infection) team. Moreover, he looks into the hospital’s key performance indicators (KPI) and oversees quality processes for the implementation of globally accepted standards within the facility’s systems and procedures. He was instrumental in the hospital’s successful application for Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in 2016. His work at the Bariatric Task Force resulted in Prime Hospital being named as a Bariatric Center of Excellence in the Middle East region in 2017 during which the hospital was also awarded an accreditation by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), USA. He used to be part of the JCI committee as well where he was appointed as Chairperson of the Assessment of Patient (AOP) chapter at Al Ain Hospital managed by SEHA – Abu Dhabi Health Authority. Dr. Rafique boasts 18 years of experience as Senior Pulmonologist/Chest Physician -- working for many JCI-accredited institutions in the UAE and abroad.
